Description DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Maintain a safe and clean work area at all times
  2. Follow all Covanta Energy Corporation safety policies
  3. The inspection and maintenance work required for rotating machinery and equipment
  4. Inspect and adjust, as necessary, the mechanical alignment, balance, level, and general condition of conveyors, compressors, boilers, pumps, water treatment equipment, stokers, fans turbines, diesel engines, gear reducers, and other rotating equipment throughout the plant and as required, check, repair, adjust, or replace couplings, bearings, and mounts
  5. Perform preventative maintenance tasks including routine vibration test, thermography & ultrasonic testing, and will actively participate in the periodic teardown and internal inspection of major equipment
  6. Use various shop equipment in the performance of his/her assigned tasks, such as the repair or rebuilding of sootblower drives, gearboxes, speed reducers, pumps, and other assemblies
  7. Read and interpret measuring tools, graphs, technical manuals

The position of Maintenance Mechanic/Millwright requires at least 3 or more years of experience in the repair and maintenance of mechanical equipment.

A High School education and/or formal technical or apprentice training is required.

Must be a licensed Industrial Millwright with provincial or inter-provincial trade certification, along with completing 4 years of apprenticeship.

Experience:

3 or more years industrial experience with heavy industry.

Inspect and adjust, as necessary, the mechanical alignment, balance, level, and general condition of conveyors, compressors, boilers, pumps, water treatment equipment, stokers, fans turbines, diesel engines, gear reducers, and other rotating equipment throughout the plant and as required, check, repair, adjust, or replace couplings, bearings, and mounts.

Experienced with rigging and lifting.

Computer skills including basic maintenance management software.

Basic welding skills.

Demonstrated advanced troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Proven initiative and detail-oriented.
