Overview

The Electrical and Instrumentation Technician (E/I Technician) works as part of the maintenance team to complete day to day electrical and instrumentation repairs.

Responsibilities and Requirements
  1. Work safely while conducting required duties and have a strong dedication to working safely
  2. Maintain electrical and instrumentation equipment through predictive and preventative maintenance strategies including, but not limited to PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), DCSs (Distributed Control Systems), AC/DC variable speed drives, and power distribution systems.
  3. Troubleshoot electrical and instrumentation equipment as needed
  4. Work as part of a team and independently as required
Qualifications

The successful candidate must have:

  • A Red Seal Certificate in Industrial Electrician or Instrumentation Technician, or other applicable trade
  • A diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology (Power & Controls) or Instrumentation and Controls Engineering Technology will also be considered
  • 5+ years of experience working in a similar industrial environment
  • Experience working in an industrial environment
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships in difficult circumstances
  • Availability for evenings and weekends, and 8 or 12 hour shifts as required
Compensation

The E/I Technician is paid in accordance with the Unifor, Local 96 collective agreement. The starting rate for a journeyperson is $44.25 per hour.
