Position Information One of Canada's largest teaching and research hospitals, The Ottawa Hospital (TOH or the Hospital) is a multi‑campus, academic health sciences centre serving the 1.2 million residents of Ottawa and Eastern Ontario. TOH is looking to meet essential needs within the organization by adding to its Mechanical Systems Team. TOH has over 4 M square feet of building space that is a complex physical environment that requires a diversity of maintenance and upkeep. With a first‑class boiler plant, joining our team of stationary engineers will provide you with the foundation and experience to build your career. We offer comprehensive benefits and are member of the HOOPP pension plan, where employer contributions are 126% of employee contributions. This position may qualify for relocation reimbursements. The annual salary is based on a 37.5 hour work week. Rotation / Shifts Days and evenings, 8‑hour shifts (06:00–14:00, 14:00–22:00). Must be available for on‑call nights (22:00–06:00) and weekends 24‑hr. For information purposes only – The Hospital reserves the right to change. Salary Information The hourly rate includes a $6.25/hour market premium. Responsibilities As a Stationary Engineer you will be responsible for maintaining in a safe and efficient manner all hospital HVAC systems and their related equipment such as boilers, chillers, compressors, etc. Basic Requirements Grade 12 or equivalent; Ontario Licensed, Stationary Engineer 3rd Class; Minimum five (5) years experience in operation and maintenance of various building equipment and systems, with particular emphasis on centrifugal chillers, cooling towers, air compressors, pneumatic tube systems, HVAC systems/water treatment, emergency power generators and Building Automation Systems (BAS) such as Honeywell EBI 1000, Excel and Graphic Central; Ability to read schematics and line diagrams; Training in Occupational Health & Safety and WHMIS; Must be eligible to work in Canada.
