Support resident independence at Bethany Cochrane as a Recreation Therapy Assistant using observation, communication, and person-centered care. This temporary part-time position works daytime shifts in Cochrane, Alberta.
The Recreation Therapy Assistant provides services responsive to residents’ holistic needs while promoting choice, dignity, and independence. Working under the Therapist’s direction, you will support mobility, comfort, self-care, intellectual stimulation, and therapeutic programs. The position collaborates with the Interdisciplinary Team and documents resident care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide functional support for mobility, comfort, self-care, and stimulation
- Adapt programs to changing resident needs and group responses
- Report changes in appearance, condition, or behavior promptly
- Document resident interventions, outcomes, progress, and program involvement
- Assist with therapy program implementation, evaluation, and volunteer coordination
Requirements:
- Grade 12 Diploma or equivalent
- Rehabilitation Assistant Diploma or equivalent preferred
- One year of recreational experience in a therapy setting
- Knowledge of varied recreational program modalities
- Excellent observation, communication, and problem-solving skills
