Our esteemed client, a prominent global real estate asset management firm, is actively seeking a seasoned and adept Senior Property Accountant to join their team on a contractual basis. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in safeguarding the precision and reliability of financial data and reports concerning properties, tier entities, and investors. Responsibilities

  • Support the accounting functions for a diverse portfolio of office buildings, encompassing a significant square footage.
  • Assist in project draw requests and maintain comprehensive fixed asset ledgers.
  • Collaborate closely with various stakeholders, including Property Managers, Chief Engineers, and Controllers, to ensure precise financial reporting, loan draws, and budget adherence.
  • Oversee treasury functions, including cash management and cash flow projections.
  • Prepare funding requests for investors as required.
  • Handle HST filings and initiate tax payments.
  • Prepare and review monthly financial statements and supporting schedules.
  • Manage various financial transactions, including bank reconciliations and accounts payable functions.
  • Administer lease administration processes, ensuring compliance with accounting standards.
  • Prepare rental payment schedules for tenants and reconcile operating expenses.
  • Ensure accuracy in rent computations and billing procedures.
  • Prepare and record journal entries in compliance with accounting standards.
  • Support internal and external audit processes.
  • Research accounting guidance and document accounting treatment for new or unusual items.
  • Assist with maintaining models or reconciliations as needed.
  • Uphold internal control standards to ensure compliance and accuracy.
  • Provide support for tax preparation and filing.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
  • 7+ years of experience in real estate accounting is essential.
  • Familiarity with JD Edwards software is preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from an accredited university.
  • Strong knowledge and application of International Financial Reporting Standards.
  • Exceptional numerical and financial analysis skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and various accounting software.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
