Finance - Client Support is a team of finance professionals dedicated to providing focused, strategic support to Hospital management at all levels to improve operations of SickKids from a financial and non-financial perspective day-to-day and for future planning. The Senior Finance Business Partner (SFBP) will provide expert financial and business advice to ensure that the clinical programs and operational departments are run as efficiently and effectively as possible. The SFBP will lead and support organization-wide initiatives as well as one-off projects that arise within their assigned portfolio.

Our team is responsible for working with management to understand drivers impacting financial performance and developing strategies to maximize opportunities and mitigate risks, develop business cases for increasing the investment in the areas both internally and from third party funding sources including the Ministry of Health, identifying opportunities to reduce costs and increase revenues, design reporting solutions that allow both Finance and management to use the wealth of data available to drive decision making to achieve both operational and strategic objectives.

Reporting to the Senior Finance Manager, Client Support, the Senior Finance Business Partner will provide exceptional support to Hospital Management for an assigned portfolio which may include both clinical programs as well as operational departments. The SFBP will work with Hospital Management to complete forecasts and annual operating plans and develop strategies to maximize the use of resources.

Here's What You'll Get To Do:

  • Lead/support portfolio and organization-wide initiatives utilizing statistical, financial and non-financial data (e.g. cost per patient day, hours per patient day, benchmarking, revenue generating initiatives, etc.).
  • Provide expert support for selected projects in partnership with others within the Hospital and the community.
  • Prioritize, analyze, evaluate, make decisions and recommend solutions regarding highly sensitive and contentious issues within portfolios and throughout the Hospital including significant variance drivers, forecasting, operational planning and funds within a selected portfolio.
  • Initiate and play an active role in improving operating efficiencies and challenging the status quo.
  • Develop financial analysis frameworks for analyzing the impact of new technology and standards of care.
  • Analyze business opportunities in conjunction with Hospital Management and prepare business cases for internal and external funding consideration.
  • Lead/support strategic projects put forward to Hospital Operations Finance for completion.
  • Foster an environment of continuous improvement and development and translation of knowledge through support of the Financial Literacy program both within the Finance team and across the management of the Hospital.

Here's What You'll Need:

  • Minimum 5-7 years experience within Finance.
  • Strategic experience in financial and data modelling.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Innovative and creative problem solver.
  • Inquisitive and curious to learn how the Hospital works.
  • Skilled at project management and process improvement.
  • Excellent computer skills with a strong knowledge of Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint) and experience with larger database and reporting tools.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and proven ability to successfully establish relationships.
  • Adherence to confidentiality policy for sensitive financial and clinical information.
  • Demonstrated commitment and actions in advancing equity, diversity, and inclusion objectives.

Assets

  • Masters Business Administration (MBA).
  • Healthcare industry experience.
  • Experience with PeopleSoft, Workday Adaptive Planning, Qlikview, or PowerBI.
