Through a shared reception area, doctor and nurse practitioner offices are connected to acute care services including the Collaborative Emergency Centre (CEC), X‑ray, rehabilitation, laboratory and inpatient care beds for observation, short stay and palliative patients. Position Details Position: Casual Security Guard Site: North Cumberland Health Care Centre Hours: 0700‑1900hrs, 1900hrs‑0700hrs Payrate: $20.50 Key Responsibilities Patrol Hospital Grounds: Conduct regular rounds of hospital premises, including parking areas, hallways, patient rooms, entrances, and exits, to ensure safety and security. Monitor Surveillance Systems: Operate security cameras and alarm systems, ensuring any suspicious activity is reported immediately to the appropriate authorities. Access Control: Monitor and control entry points to the hospital, ensuring only authorized individuals are allowed access to restricted areas. Respond to Emergencies: Act quickly in emergency situations such as medical emergencies, fire alarms, or security threats. Assist staff during crises and evacuations. Provide Customer Service: Greet and assist visitors, patients, and staff. Provide directions and ensure guests adhere to hospital policies and procedures. Conflict Resolution: De‑escalate tense situations, resolve conflicts, and ensure all interactions are handled calmly and professionally. Report Writing: Document daily activities, incidents, or accidents accurately. Complete reports on incidents, breaches, and security concerns. Collaboration with Hospital Staff: Work closely with staff and local law enforcement to provide a coordinated security effort and ensure safety of all parties involved. Enforce Hospital Policies: Ensure policies, including visitor and patient protocols, are followed. Address any violations in a manner that upholds safety standards. Prerequisites Ability to obtain Security License for the province of Nova Scotia Valid Standard First Aid & CPR – Level C from a CSA‑approved vendor COVID‑19 vaccine: two doses Immunization records for Mumps, Measles, Rubella, Varicella and two‑step TB skin test English (oral and written) fluency is a must Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field preferred Must provide certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB). Candidates lacking these can opt into Paladin’s UOF/MOAB training prior to onboarding. Paladin will cover all UOF/MOAB training costs with a 6‑month commitment to the position/availability.
