Opportunity We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Associate Litigator to join our busy litigation team in Edmonton. The successful candidate will manage a diverse caseload, appear regularly before all levels of court, and provide strategic legal advice to our clients. This is an excellent opportunity for a lawyer looking to take the next step in their career with a firm that supports growth and offers partnership potential. Key Responsibilities Manage all stages of the litigation process, including initial case assessment, pleadings, discovery (affidavits of records, examinations for discovery), motions, mediations, and trials. Conduct legal research and analysis, preparing written opinions and memoranda. Attend court appearances, including applications, case management, and trials. Draft and prepare a variety of legal documents, including statements of claim, statements of defence, settlement agreements, and legal briefs. Liaise directly with clients, opposing counsel, and experts. Mentor and supervise junior staff as required. Qualifications Juris Doctor (J.D.) or Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) degree from an accredited law school. Active membership in good standing with the Law Society of Alberta (LSA). 2 to 5 years of post-call experience practicing as a litigator. Proven record of court advocacy experience is a strong asset. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex legal issues clearly. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently, manage a high-volume caseload, and meet strict deadlines. Compensation and Benefits Competitive salary commensurate with experience.
