Job End Date March 15, 2027 The salary will be commensurate with education preparation and experience, with an expected range of $130,000–140,000 annually at 1.0 FTE. UBC Health is establishing a Centre for Innovation in Collaborative Health Education and Team-Based Care to create a first‑of‑its‑kind provincial centre. The centre will include a purpose‑built interprofessional teaching clinic in the Gateway South building on the UBC Vancouver Point Grey campus. By convening partnerships with learners, patients, and UBC health professions programs, the Gateway Clinic will lead innovation and scholarship in collaborative health education and team‑based primary care in BC, building learner competencies and placement capacity for collaborative practice across the province. The clinic will support approximately 4,500 patients through longitudinal team‑based primary care via the BC Patient Attachment System. The Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver campus invites applications for one full‑time faculty position to join the Gateway Clinic team. This non‑tenure term position consists of equal responsibilities as a Lecturer (50%) and Clinical Faculty member (50%). Initial appointments start at a one‑year term with the possibility of reappointment. Reappointment is subject to demonstrated excellence in teaching. The position is also expected to engage in supervision of learners in the practice education setting, service contributions, and scholarly activities to advance collaborative health education, practice or quality improvement. Reporting to the Associate Dean, Practice Innovation of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences with functional reporting to the Director of Care and Program Director of the Gateway Clinic, the successful candidate will teach as a practice educator, contribute to the assessment and evaluation of learners in the clinical setting, and support student learning and innovation in person‑centred, team‑based care. The incumbent will also lead or participate in quality improvement initiatives, scholarly activities and evaluation of collaborative health education programs and team‑based practices. As the Gateway Clinic is a newly developing initiative, the candidate will help develop and implement the practices employed at the clinic and evaluate and iterate upon best practices in team‑based education and care. Responsibilities – Lecturer Teach and supervise learners in supporting practice education using a comprehensive medication management approach to assess and develop care plans for ambulatory patients. Consult, coordinate, and refer to other team members, specialists, or community organizations to support patients and caregivers in multiple dimensions of their health and wellbeing. Document care and keep medical records using the clinic’s electronic medical record system. Work within their full scope and recognize and address gaps in knowledge to ensure safe, quality care. Observe learners providing patient care, including direct observation in the room or through video camera (not for every encounter). Serve as a role model for person‑centred care, empowering patients and caregivers as experts and actively involving them in clinical teaching and student learning. Provide student support, mentorship, and training to learners across health professions, including feedback and evaluations of patient care. Contribute to university service by participating in faculty and university‑level committees that advance collaborative health education and team‑based care. Provide additional interprofessional teaching in consultation with the Associate Deans as needed (e.g., integrated health curriculum teaching). Responsibilities – Clinical Faculty Use data and research insights to devise and propose meaningful changes for ongoing improvement of clinical teaching, learning, and interprofessional practice and education. Collaborate and communicate effectively within a large team of faculty, staff, students, patients, caregivers, and partner organizations. Learn, adapt, and utilize health and learning technologies (e.g., electronic health record, artificial intelligence) in a rapidly changing health system. Provide continuity of pharmaceutical care within an interdisciplinary team setting when required by learner availability and capacity, facilitating innovation in team‑based education and care. Qualifications Pharmacist with completion of entry‑to‑practice pharmacy degree (BSc in Pharmacy or PharmD), license to practice as a full pharmacist in BC, and authorization to administer immunizations (or ability to become licensed and authorized by the College of Pharmacists of BC). Experience in primary or ambulatory care or team‑based care contexts is required. Preferred: residency in primary/ambulatory care or an additional postgraduate degree in a related discipline (e.g., education, leadership, research). Familiarity with the UBC entry‑to‑practice PharmD curriculum is desirable. Commitment to enhancing equity, diversity, inclusion, and trauma‑informed care; respect for diverse perspectives. Strong foundation in person‑centred, team‑based care, interprofessional education, shared decision‑making, and continuous quality improvement. Knowledge of PharmaCare policies, common drug products, non‑prescription and natural products, determinants of health, and chronic disease management. Knowledge of the College of Pharmacists of BC's standards of practice and guidelines.
