OverviewSenior Director, Software Engineering (Machine Learning) at Affirm. This role leads centralized Machine Learning capability and sets the vision for ML and AI at Affirm, hiring and coordinating ML modelers, platform engineers, and software engineers to execute that vision.What You’ll DoSet the vision for Machine Learning and AI at Affirm. Hire world-class ML modelers, platform and software engineers to execute on that vision.Own the core model development lifecycle and business outcomes across underwriting, fraud, servicing, and personalization.Collaborate with product and business leadership to champion AI adoption in existing and new products.Balance ML investments across traditional ML and transformer-based models.Evolve the ML platform to support increasing ML needs with emphasis on training, tuning, and serving AI models.Establish a robust, accelerated ML development lifecycle and a culture of experimentation and fast iteration.Engage with cross-functional partners outside engineering including product, risk, servicing, legal and compliance.What We Look For15+ years of relevant experience in Machine Learning, AI, or related technical domainsExperience leading centralized ML teams comprising ML modelers and ML platform engineersSuccessful track record in landing key models that directly drive business outcomesComfortable working in matrix organizations and influencing across a wide range of leadersExperience hiring, growing, and retaining talentAwareness of evolving ML landscape—knows when to buy vs build and which tools/techniques drive business valueCompensation and BenefitsBase Pay Range - $270,000 to $310,000 per year. Base pay is part of a total compensation package and may include stipends for health, wellness, tech spending, and benefits (including 100% subsidized medical coverage, dental and vision for you and your dependents). Equity rewards may be available. CAN base pay range per year: $270,000 - $310,000.Equity Grade - 13. Base Pay Grade - V.Affirm is remote-first.
