OverviewPower System Studies Engineer at Jacobs. The energy industry is undergoing major changes to support decarbonization and energy transition targets. This role involves working with regional and global power systems teams to support or lead projects, and to contribute to business development and proposal support with clients including renewable developers, transmission owners/developers, and utilities.The position is flexible and can be remote anywhere in North America, with preference for candidates in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Vancouver, Toronto, Boston, Orlando, or Dallas/Fort Worth. Jacobs supports a hybrid working policy to balance office/project work and remote locations.Our People & Places Solutions team aims to improve lives by delivering solutions that support clean water, mobility, and connected technology, contributing to the smart environments of tomorrow.ResponsibilitiesPerform power system studies (internal to the plant) including, but not limited to, load flow, short circuit, insulation coordination, TOV, arc flash and harmonics.Perform power system studies (external to the plant) related to interconnection to ensure compliance with interconnection requirements as well as NERC standards.Support system studies projects throughout the lifecycle (technical bid/proposal to execution, reports, client meetings/presentations, to close-out).Contribute to the delivery of projects, delivering on time and within budget.Work closely with team members across North America and globally.Engage with different customer types including renewable developers, utilities, and ISOs/RTOs.Participate in ISO/RTO stakeholder forums and other technical committees such as IEEE or CIGRE.QualificationsMaster’s degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized institution.Minimum 4 years of direct experience with system studies on utility-scale renewable projects.Experience with power system studies using PSS/E, ETAP and PSCAD or equivalent tools.Knowledge of applicable industry standards such as IEC, IEEE and CIGRE.Exceptional problem-solving and analytical capabilities with a focus on achieving results.Team player with strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.Ability and willingness to travel within North America.Preferred / Nice to HaveExperience with systems studies in California and/or WECC.Experience with offshore wind and HVDC.Knowledge of programming languages to streamline studies using Python.Professional Engineer (PE or PEng) License.Salary and LocationPosted Salary Range Minimum: 65,800.00Posted Salary Range Upper: 86,400.00Additional InformationWe value collaboration and support a hybrid working policy that enables a balance between Jacobs offices/projects and remote locations.
