Social Worker II (Mental Health Services - Child & Adolescent Outpatient MH) Join to apply for the Social Worker II (Mental Health Services - Child & Adolescent Outpatient MH) role at Michael Garron Hospital Overview As part of a multi-disciplinary team, the Social Worker has primary therapist responsibilities providing assessment and brief, crisis-oriented psychotherapy to children, adolescents and their families on the outpatient unit and the day treatment programs. The Social Worker participates in all aspects of program planning, treatment and discharge. In this role, the Social Worker will provide cross coverage to other mental health programs on an as needed basis. Education Master of Social Work from an accredited school of Social Work, or equivalent degree, as recognized by the College of Registered Social Workers and Social Service Workers. Must be a member of the College of Registered Social Workers and Social Service Workers, or be a candidate for certification. Qualifications 5 years recent experience working within child and adolescent mental health family care. Experience with children and adolescents in an acute crisis or suffering from a serious mental health illness. Demonstrated recent experience with individual, family and group psychotherapy. Willingness to assist with intake and participate in the day treatment program. Experience with related acute/crisis interventions. Experience working with children and adolescents with histories of severe trauma, abuse and/or self-harm. Experience providing psychoeducation around mental illness with children and families. Well developed family and group work intervention skills. Demonstrated knowledge of related legislation. Knowledge of child and adolescent mental health community resources. Demonstrated sensitivity and competency with diverse populations. Good work and attendance record required.
