Psychologist I – Chronic Disease Management Location: Grande Prairie Public Health, Alberta – eligible to work remotely within Alberta. Type: Temporary – Full Time (1.00 FTE). Posting End Date: 05‑DEC‑2025 (Date Available: 15‑DEC‑2025, Temporary End Date: 17‑MAY‑2026). Hours per Shift: 7.75, Shift Pattern: Days, Evenings. Salary: Minimum $43.38 – Maximum $57.63 per hour. Remote Retention Allowance up to $3,000 per annum. Overview: As part of an inter‑professional chronic disease management bariatric/diabetes specialty team, the psychologist will provide psychological testing, assessment procedures and counseling to clients living with chronic conditions such as obesity and diabetes. The position leads or co‑leads client screening and assessments, interventions, group psychotherapy, and structured groups. Responsibilities: Provide psychological screening, assessment, diagnosis, interventions and rehabilitation for bariatric and diabetes clinic patients. Lead or intervene in group therapy and structured educational activities. Develop individualized treatment plans and collaborate with inter‑professional team. Maintain clinical and professional standards and coordinate professional activities. Collect and analyze quantitative and qualitative data to monitor client outcomes. Provide supervision and input to psychometrists, provisional psychologists, masters level psychology students. Participate in formal research initiatives and program, policy or procedure development. Required Qualifications: Master’s degree in Psychology in an applied area relevant to the practice setting from an accredited university program. Active or eligible registration with the College of Alberta Psychologists (CAP). Applications from provisional psychologists may be considered. 3–5 years’ experience in a healthcare or related setting in a complex and diverse organization. Demonstrated assessment, organization and client care skills. Ability to communicate findings concisely and accurately. Experience in disordered eating, emotional eating and group therapy leadership. Additional Required Qualifications: Respect for bariatric and diabetes services philosophy, self‑management, mutual aid and adult education principles. Community development and engagement skills. Leadership and decision‑making experience; coaching and ability to inspire confidence in others. Experience or understanding of chronic health conditions impact on individuals and the health system. Preferred Qualifications: Experience working with diverse and vulnerable populations. Specialized training in evaluation/counseling of obese clients. Leadership skills, decision‑making responsibilities, and team environment experience. Excellent analytical, problem‑solving and decision‑making skills.
