Consulting Nurse, Medical Office – Desjardins As a consulting nurse for the Medical Office, you will develop and implement strategies for life and health insurance claims, occupational health, and disability management. You will advise and support clients and partners on initiatives related to major developments in your field, propose solutions to improve or optimize standards, policies and programs, and prepare recommendations, solutions and action plans based on the organization’s objectives and priorities. Your role requires analytical skills and a detailed knowledge of your line of business. Coordination is critical; you will interact with diverse partners across disciplines, and interpersonal savvy is essential. Responsibilities Identify issues, challenges, needs and problems in your area of expertise to reach target outcomes. Develop and help implement objectives, solutions and action plans or recommend changes to disability management strategies and processes. Review ongoing cases to verify the action plans for medical care and rehabilitation, recommend measures to assist insured individuals in recovering promptly and returning to work, and coordinate to obtain diagnoses and medical opinions quickly. Analyze data, conduct studies, make recommendations and write reports. Take responsibility for cases that require specialized activities and plan an appropriate strategy. Negotiate terms and conditions for returning to work with clients and all parties involved, including the attending physician. Handle consultation requests with the Medical Office for complex cases, map out an action strategy and monitor the progress of the proposed solution. Analyze complex cases submitted for consulting physicians to review, ensure relevance, and propose alternative solutions or actions before requesting a medical opinion. Serve as a resource person for various parties involved when assessing a medical strategy. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in a related field. Minimum of four years of relevant experience (alternative combinations of qualifications and experience may be considered). Member of and hold a valid practising licence issued by the Ordre des infirmières et infirmiers du Québec (OIIQ) or the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO). Knowledge of French required for positions in Quebec. Advanced proficiency in English due to the nature of the duties, tools, or interactions with English‑speaking partners.
