Reporting to the Director of Safety and Quality, the Safety Advisor is responsible to fulfill safety obligations for the region. This opportunity is ideal for an individual who excels in a fast-paced and diverse environment.

Position Responsibilities

  1. Ensure compliance with applicable legislation within Atlantic Canada
  2. Promote a strong safety culture both onsite and in the office
  3. Provide your insight into the company’s health and safety program to continuously make improvements
  4. Conduct safety training and maintain safety training records (e.g., safety orientations, equipment inspections)
  5. Conduct comprehensive hazard assessments and formal site inspections
  6. Participate in recording monthly safety statistics
  7. Implement, enforce, monitor, and update site-specific health and safety plans
  8. Deliver site-specific safety orientations and ensure that personnel undergo orientation before entering the site
  9. Maintain site-specific logs of inspections, meetings, infractions, and mitigating measures
  10. Assist with maintenance of the company’s quality management system
  11. Work with the safety department on various business development initiatives (International Standards Organization, Workers Compensation Board, safety training, loss control, etc.)

Job Requirements

  1. 5+ years of safety experience within the construction industry
  2. CHSC or CRSP designation, or similar
  3. Knowledge of current legislation and regulations within Atlantic Canada
  4. Knowledge of safe work practices required for execution work and operation of equipment
  5. Knowledge of preventative maintenance program for construction site equipment
  6. Possess a working knowledge of the MS Office Suite (MS Word, Excel, Outlook)
  7. Ability to lead and work with minimal supervision
  8. Possess a valid driver’s license
