Job Description

The Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge is seeking a dynamic, passionate, and versatile individual to join our team as Director of Operations. Nestled within 700 acres of breathtaking natural beauty in Jasper National Park, this role offers unparalleled opportunities for professional growth and an adventure like no other.

Reporting directly to the General Manager, the Director of Operations will oversee the full scope of our iconic property’s operations, including the Rooms and Food & Beverage Divisions, Spa and Golf Operations, as well as Security. This role requires an innovative and thoughtful leader who can drive excellence in guest service, financial performance, and operational efficiency. What you will be doing:

  • Assume the responsibilities of the General Manager in their absence
  • Assist in the preparation of the annual Business Plan and focus on tactical plans to achieve the business results
  • Ensure that monthly financial outlooks for Operating Departments including Rooms, F&B, Golf, and Security are accurate and are being achieved.
  • Lead all capital projects including development of capital plans and execution of projects, including the major renovation and rebuild plan of the hotel over the next few years.
  • Ensure the consistent implementation and delivery of all Accor/Fairmont Service Standards. Keeping the appropriate focus on Forbes service training and LQA standards in order to drive RPS goals and oversee all tactical plans driving guest service.
  • Core team member driving employee training culture and service recovery
  • Handle guest concerns and feedback to ensure effective follow up resolution
  • Ensure the smooth operation and coordination of the hotel through all hotel department Heads
  • Support our team's commitment to Sustainability through active leadership supporting the sustainability goals of the hotel
  • Responsible for Watson standard compliance and productivity meetings
  • Complete the Month end and Forecast Commentary for Corporate Office and Owners as required
  • Provide support and assistance as required to the Director of Talent & Culture, Director of Finance & Business support, Director of Sales & Marketing, and Director of Engineering
  • Actively work with Director of Talent and Culture, GM, and L&D Manager to support and activate all L&D programs (GLP, IM, INES training, etc)
  • With the Director of Finance & Business support, review all contracts (i.e. cleaning, maintenance & repair, telephones, etc.)
  • Manage and coordinate relationships with all third party vendors that operate on property
  • Senior representative for all BDDT’s, sites, pre cons, as required
  • Ensure our team's commitment to Environmental Stewardship through active leadership on the Environmental Committee, monitoring of NNNEI commitments and interaction with Parks Canada
  • Owner of the hotel’s Business Continuity, Emergency and Crisis Management Plans; including oversight of the hotel desktop exercises
  • Provide active leadership in the culture of Health and Safety and accident prevention
  • Function as key member of the Hotel Executive Committee and Leadership Team; including supporting and driving the exec EES action plan
  • Direct operational needs to ensure compliance with the hotel’s Annual Budget and 5 Year Strategic Plan
  • Carry out any other tasks as assigned

Qualifications

  • Experience as a DOO/GM preferred
  • Extensive Operations management experience in F&B preferred. (Multi outlet, banquets)
  • Clear working knowledge of budget planning & execution
  • Post-secondary diploma/degree in hospitality or university an asset
  • Proven record to coordinate multiple departments and to achieve goals
  • Exceptional interpersonal and guest relations skills
  • Proven team-leader with outstanding motivational skills and coaching ability
  • Ability to motivate developing leaders to act as entrepreneurs while implementing innovative, profit driven, guest satisfaction oriented solutions
  • Self-motivated, with the ability to make effective decisions
