We are proud of the communities we serve and are rooted in making positive impacts within them.What You’ll Do:The Commercial Property & Casualty Underwriter is responsible for detailed underwriting, risk analysis and accurate premium calculations in alignment with the company’s risk appetite. The individual is responsible for responding to product and procedural questions from colleagues and brokers, provide guidance on complex new business, participate in post-loss underwriting reviews and collaborate with claims on our service philosophies. The Commercial Property & Casualty Underwriter collaborates with cross-functional teams and behaviours are modelled in a manner consistent with company values.Responsibilities:Accept, reject, endorse, renew or cancel contracts in accordance with company underwriting policies, procedures, service standards, applicable laws and regulations based on assigned authority levels.Process new applications, endorsements, renewals, cancellations, declines and quotes.Research and determine appropriate rates, apply discounts / surcharges and accurately calculate premiums.Request inspections in accordance with company policies and procedures.Prepare related correspondences and maintain supporting documentation as required.Provide underwriting training/coaching to new hires or new team members.Assist in the development and mentorship of colleagues.Participate in post-loss underwriting reviews and review on claim files referred in accordance with the company’s risk appetite and service standards.Understand and communicate underwriting business rules and guidelines to brokers.Requirements:Candidates must reside in Canada and be authorized to work in Canada.Minimum of 2 years experience with personal lines, farm or commercial underwriting (or related equivalent).Demonstrated knowledge of MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams).Consistency of applying accuracy, thoroughness and attention to detail approaches.Ability to work independently and demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment is required.Adaptable mind-set is required.A continuous improvement mindset is preferred.CIP designation or actively pursuing a CIP designation (or equivalency)Bachelor’s Degree or post-secondary certificate is required (or an equivalent of industry experience)The salary offered is estimated to be within the following range: $50,000 - $70,000What We Offer:Hybrid Work ArrangementsLearn, Grow and Development OpportunitiesCompetitive Compensation Package of Salary plus an Incentive Plan24/7 Employee and Family Assistance ProgramHealth, Dental, Critical Illness and Group Life Insurance CoverageDefined Contribution Company Pension PlanPaid Personal Days in addition to Vacation TimeIf you have the qualifications we are seeking and would thrive in a work environment where you are valued and respected, please apply.
