The company is founder-led, profitable and growing.Location: Globally remote role.The role entails working as part of a cloud operations team to bring Python software-engineering rigor to the operations domain, practicing devsecops from bare metal to application, and enabling operations on OpenStack, Kubernetes, and software-defined storage.What we are looking forWe are seeking a software engineer fluent in Python who is passionate about the full open source infrastructure stack from metal to containers and who can operate under high-pressure conditions with mission-critical services for global brand name customers. You should believe automation is a software engineering problem, be interested in a metrics- and code-driven approach to operations at scale, and be prepared to learn the entire stack from bare metal networking and kernel to serverless and open source applications.ResponsibilitiesArchitect and run OpenStack, Kubernetes, and software-defined storage environments.Bring Python software engineering skills and rigor to the operations domain; practice devsecops from bare metal to application.Automate and model-driven operations to improve efficiency and reliability for hundreds of private cloud, Kubernetes, and application clusters.Collaborate across teams to keep customers on the latest, best solutions and upgrades.QualificationsDegree in Software Engineering or Computer Science.Experience with Linux and familiarity with Linux networking and storage.Python software development expertise.Operational experience in a production environment.Excellent interpersonal skills, curiosity, flexibility, and accountability.Ability to travel internationally twice a year, for company events up to two weeks long.Nice-to-haveExperience with OpenStack or Kubernetes deployment or operations.Familiarity with public or private cloud management.What we offerDistributed work environment with twice-yearly team sprints in person.Personal learning and development budget of USD 2,000 per year.Annual compensation review and performance-driven bonus or incentive program.Additional benefits aligned with local needs and global fairness.Employee Assistance Programme and opportunity to travel to new locations to meet colleagues.About CanonicalCanonical is a pioneering tech firm at the forefront of the global move to open source.
