Join to apply for the Nurse Practitioner - Travel Locum role at Alberta Health Services We have exciting in-person locum opportunities available across various emergency departments, including rural locations, within Alberta, for Nurse Practitioners. This role provides temporary coverage within an emergency department as a full-scope NP. Responsibilities As a Nurse Practitioner (NP), you will provide a full range of comprehensive health services to individuals across their lifespan. You will be responsible for integrating clinical skills associated with nursing and medicine to assess, diagnose, order, and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe treatment, and perform procedures to manage and meet the health needs of patients. Additionally, you will utilize advanced practice nursing competencies related to Clinical Practice, Leadership and Optimizing Health Systems, Education, and Research to increase care quality, promote appropriate use of health services, and inform and influence healthcare systems. Qualifications Successful completion of an approved Nurse Practitioner program, with a minimum of a Master's degree. Active registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) on the Nurse Practitioner Registrar, including Provisional Graduate Nurse Practitioner licensure. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Minimum of 3 years of Nurse Practitioner clinical experience in an acute care setting (within the last 5 years). Current ACLS and PALS certification. Evidence to practice both independently and collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team. Ability to provide care across the lifespan. Practices trauma-informed, patient-centered care approach. Emergency Nurse Practitioner certification (ENP) or equivalent (Preferred). Emergency Medicine Education: Adult EM Bootcamp or equivalent (Preferred). Pediatric experience (Preferred). Previous rural and/or emergency nursing experience (Preferred). Strong teamwork and organizational skills (Preferred). Excellent written and verbal communication (Preferred). Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams (Preferred). Familiarity with Connect Care is beneficial (Preferred). Compensation & Benefits This position offers additional incentives, including a premium payment per hour for hours worked, reimbursement for travel costs, a per diem allowance, meal allowance, and accommodation provided by AHS.
