Other elements may also include pay for performance programs (merit pay and discretionary annual performance bonuses), comprehensive health benefits and wellness programs, membership discounts, employee referral bonus, eligibility for our pension plan, career development programs, and professional development/educational reimbursements.As part of our expanding the Site Engineering and Design team, successful candidates will work on engineering projects that directly support Bruce Power’s Major Component Replacement (MCR) program, ongoing refurbishment work, and Rapid Response Engineering (Engineering Permits) that address emergent plant needs.Accountabilities: How You Will Make an ImpactTo deliver Mechanical / Piping engineering expertise to power generation utilities and other customers. The specific accountabilities of the position are as follows:Perform mechanical and piping engineering design for nuclear power plant systems.Develop conceptual and detailed equipment/system designs, including piping and process systems.Prepare design documentation such as system design specifications, flow diagrams, isometrics, sizing calculations, technical specifications, and design drawings.Provide input and direction throughout the structured design process, from concept development to implementation and close-out.Support Engineering Permits (Rapid Response Engineering) by responding quickly and effectively to station needs.Interface with vendors, procurement, construction partners, and utility stakeholders to ensure designs are practical, cost-effective, and compliant with requirements.Provide field support to multi-disciplined plant design modifications, including provision of field engineering.Provide technical guidance/direction on projects and act as design team lead where appropriate.Understand and assess client problems and determine appropriate means of solution.Mentor junior engineers and provide technical oversight (for senior-level roles).Interface effectively with other staff on multi-disciplinary projects.Stay current with developments within their field of expertise.Assist with proposals, client presentations, and technical reports.Assist / support with Bruce Power ECC process and EAMS MaximoRegular travel / visits to client sites in Tiverton are required for walkdowns. Travel to other GTA locations may be required occasionally.Other duties as required.What You Need to SucceedA Bachelor’s or Graduate degree in Mechanical or Nuclear Engineering (or equivalent) is required.A period of 8+ years experience is necessary.A Professional Engineer of Ontario (PEO), or eligible for PEO status, with a passion for engineering.Good knowledge of CANDU design and/or PWRs, PHWRs, and BWRsMechanical/piping engineering experience can include, but is not limited to:Piping and process system design, including flow diagrams and isometric drawings.System hydraulic, thermal, and component sizing calculations.Vendor interface and procurement specifications (valves, pumps, heat exchangers, piping and associated fittings, etc.).Design of modular skid-based engineered systems.HVAC design and flow balance calculations.3D modeling and design practices (SolidWorks, AutoCAD etc.).Experience with projects related to heavy industry, nuclear refurbishment is preferredWorking knowledge of CSA N285, ASME Section III, VIII, B31.1, and related standardsASME Section III Appendix XXIII qualification is an assetIn depth knowledge and experience of use of appropriate codes and standards (e.g. N299 and CSA N286), as applied to nuclear plant and conventional plantsExperience in project management and interfacing with and coordinating activities of multi-disciplinary teamsKnowledge and experience working with nuclear power plant systems & processes (Bruce Power, OPG, NB Power or other), e.g. Engineering Change Control is an asset.Good time management skills and demonstrated capability to interface effectively with and gain the trust of station customers.Good understanding of nuclear power plant design and operation.Experience in leading technical projects to successful conclusion.Assist in development of proposals for clientsExcellent communication skills, both written and oral.Demonstrated commitment to quality.Excellent problem-solving skills.Ability to lead complex and/or multi-discipline projects.Innovative, enthusiastic and ready to be part of our dynamic team.Must be able to organize and prioritize assigned work and to coordinate multiple activities efficiently.Must be motivated by working with engineering professionals committed to producing timely and high-quality technical work.Ability to work under pressure and be a team player.Field Team Lead experience is an assetThis role requires the successful candidate to complete the security clearance process.
