Social Worker (MSW) Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) is looking for a Social Worker to join the team at Vancouver General Hospital. Salary: CAD $42.27/hr – $52.81/hr. Responsibilities Provide advanced clinical and consultative social work services to clients and families, focusing on relationships affected by their environment. Conduct social and psychosocial assessments. Provide individual, family, and group counselling services. Maintain client records and attend interdisciplinary clinical/case conferences. Identify applicable community resources for clients and facilitate care throughout the continuum. Education & Experience Current full registration with the British Columbia College of Social Workers (BCCSW). Master of Social Work from an accredited School of Social Work and one (1) year post‑Bachelor of Social Work experience in a health care setting. Applicants with a Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) degree and a demonstrated equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered. If applying under equivalency, outline how your knowledge, education, skills and experience meet Master of Social Work (MSW) equivalency. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Broad knowledge of systems thinking, other health disciplines, research methodology, counselling skills and clinical practice models, family, group and change therapy. Broad knowledge of legislation and government policies related to clients. Ability to apply systems theory to practice in social work assessment and intervention. Ability to conduct social and psychosocial assessments. Ability to understand and influence group and inter‑group processes, decision‑making and problem‑solving. Ability to establish rapport with clients and families to explore issues beyond initial concerns. Effective verbal and written communication with clients, families, team members and community agencies. Ability to adapt to new or unexpected events and handle conflict situations. Ability to work collaboratively as part of an interdisciplinary team. Skilled in the use of equipment and relevant techniques for treatment. General knowledge of Trauma‑Informed Practice, Harm Reduction approaches and Strengths‑based care. Ability to promote Indigenous Cultural Safety and deliver competent, culturally safe care in diverse settings. Computer literacy for operating client care information systems, word processing, spreadsheets and databases. Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
