Position: Site Supervisor (in Edmonton or Calgary)

AECOM is actively seeking a Site Supervisor to lead remedial construction programs such as environmental drilling investigations and remediation including excavation and soil handling. The successful candidate will be working within a team of other technicians and junior engineers under the supervision of professional engineers and geologists. The position will involve assisting in all aspects of environmental projects with a focus on field work including subcontractor coordination. This position is a full-time role and is expected to begin in October 2022.

Job Description

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  1. Groundwater Monitoring – purging and sample collection from monitoring wells
  2. Drilling – environmental drilling, ground disturbance procedures, soil description and monitoring well installation
  3. Excavation – directing subcontractors, analyzing changes in conditions, water management, shoring, communication with project management, critical thinking and problem solving, documenting adherence to standard field procedures
  4. Soil sampling – field screening, soil sample collection procedures
  5. Field notes – taking organized and detailed field notes, recording observations
  6. Safety – leading and participating in field meetings, oversight of subcontractors, contributing to and following safe work practices, developing/following/implementing safety plans on a day-to-day basis, recognizing hazards, confidence in exercising stop work authority

Minimum Requirements:

  • 6+ years of experience in Environmental Remediation or Drilling
  • Valid driver's license

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Diploma in Environmental Technology/Geological Technology or equivalent technical training
  • Strong team work, able to listen to requirements and work well with others
  • Excellent attention to detail and a thorough approach to work
  • Strong communication skills
  • Critical thinking and problem solving
  • Possess good writing skills
  • Ability to learn new tasks
  • Flexible and hard working
  • Willing to travel within the province/country for work
