This position requires a deep understanding of provincial regulations, Long Combination Vehicle programs, and a commitment to fostering a culture of safety and compliance.Location: Port Coquitlam, British ColumbiaSchedule: Monday to Friday. 40 hoursWhat you will doSubject Matter Expert (SME)Develop a working partnership relationship with operations, not an adversarial relationshipProvincial regulations for province(s) of responsibilityRegional Long Combination Vehicle (LCV) programOrientation and Ongoing TrainingHours of Service (HOS)Pre-TripChair, Accident Review CommitteeTDGDefensive Driving / Professional Driver Improvement Course (PDIC)OT1ON DCP program leadSmart DriveTruckrightSafetyManages the Incident Response Team (IRT) in the regionOversee a small team of 2Track OO out of service and pulled plates eventsCo-ordinate Emergency Accident / Incident response and investigationConduct intake interviews regarding accidents and incidentsIdentify accident causes using root cause analysis and provide recommendations for preventionIdentify trends in accident causes and develop practices to reduce accident frequencyEnsure the accident/incident database is maintained by the Safety and Compliance teamWork with garage regarding incidentsHaz-Mat spills – dock & on road as part of IRTNSC review and follow up with unreported eventsSDP program for BCAuditAudit terminal compliance with regulationsSchedule and conduct periodic “safety blitzes” at each operating locationMSO program in regionHOS – audit logs against trip documentsCommunicate recurring issues to offenders, send warning letters as requiredManage SpeedGauge reports and action accordinglyManage driver behavior using Radius/OT1Manage driver behavior using Smart DriveTrainingDevelop regional training programsDeliver training programs established by national teamOversee OrientationEnsure compliance with Safety and Compliance Policies and ProceduresDeliver remedial trainingRoad testsResponsible for Pro Trainer program regionallyInitiate corrective action for non-complianceAdminOversee 1 admin for CAR and ARC and NSC analysisMeet weekly with Operations to review top 3 issues of the weekAssist drivers with applying for/renewing FAST cards for US driversReview and ensure new hires meet US Drug and Alcohol requirementsManage driver qualification files after orientationMaintain Master Driver’s License fileMaintain Master Driver Abstract fileManage citations assigned to legal helpOther duties as assignedWhat You’ll Bring3-4 years of relevant experienceCollege diploma or trade apprenticeship certificationCertified Instructor in LCV, TDG, WHMIS, Air Brakes, and forklift (asset)Solid experience as a Class 1 driver with a valid Class 1 licenseSkills & Competencies:Audit and InspectionCollaboration and LeadershipDatabase ManagementRegulatory ComplianceTraining Program DevelopmentWhy people love working for Canada CartageCohesive team and a positive atmosphereCareer growth opportunitiesRecognition initiatives for outstanding servicePerks - discounted hotels, car rentals, entertainment, and moreFun events throughout the yearCommunity involvement through volunteeringWe are a top employerRecognized on Forbes list of Canada’s Best EmployersSelected as one of Canada’s Top Fleet EmployersAcknowledged for Diversity by Forbes 2023Come work with an industry leaderCanada Cartage is committed to adhering to the Accessible Canada Act (ACA).
