Habing Laviolette is a well-established law firm located in the peaceful suburbs of St. James. As a small office, we pride ourselves on our close-knit culture, where each lawyer is trusted, supported, and given meaningful autonomy over their practice.Our firm offers a professional environment that values quality of work, collegiality, and balance. We practice across several core areas of law while remaining open to growth and new directions.Position OverviewWe are currently seeking a lawyer to join our firm. This role is well‑suited to a lawyer who values independence, the ability to shape their own practice without the pressure of billable‑hour targets, and a balanced lifestyle, rather than one that is work‑centric.At Habing Laviolette, lawyers have the ability to function as their own boss within a supportive firm structure. You will have exposure to multiple practice areas and the opportunity to develop new competencies with mentorship and guidance from experienced practitioners.There is no billable‑hour requirement. We focus on delivering excellent client service while maintaining reasonable and sustainable working hours. Our office closes at 4:30 p.m. daily, and we observe a one‑hour lunch break during which the office is closed. We also have free parking in the area.Practice AreasFamily LawWills and EstatesCorporate and Commercial LawReal EstateWe are also open to exploring additional practice areas, including litigation, in which we already do some work. Lawyers with an interest in expanding or developing new practice avenues are encouraged to apply.ResponsibilitiesManage your own files with appropriate support and collaborationAdvise clients on legal issuesDraft, review, and negotiate legal documents relevant to your practice areasWork collaboratively with legal assistants and other lawyersParticipate in mentorship, knowledge‑sharing, and professional development within the firmQualificationsMember in good standing (or eligible for membership) with the Law Society of ManitobaMinimum of two (2) years of post‑call experience required; this position is not intended for articling students.
