Reporting to the Team Lead, Buyer, the Buyer Co‑op student will support the purchasing, processing, and reconciliation of hardware‑related items. This is a 6‑month co‑op opportunity. What You’ll Do Here Understand how purchasing can enhance the enterprise, supply chain, and competitive strategy. Support IS with the purchase of hardware. Review goods receipt and invoice discrepancies, and coordinate corrective actions with internal stakeholders or vendors. Manage daily IS tickets for end users. Clearly understand the variables that drive cost and develop strategies to eliminate waste. Prepare and issue RFX documents to qualified vendors (request for quotes, information, proposals, etc.). Negotiate and/or aid with the negotiation of best price, delivery, terms of payment, and purchase conditions, including tax exemptions, price escalation, and other factors impacting the total cost of procured items or services. Collaborate with Aecon’s operations personnel and supporting regional offices to obtain hardware as needed. Manage logistics, including expediting for critical site deliveries. Manage the lifecycle of purchase order activity. Maintain high data integrity when inputting records into the company’s database systems. What You Bring To The Team Current student or new graduate in Purchasing, Supply Chain, Business Administration, or a comparable field. Knowledge of purchasing principles, techniques, practices, and ethics. Proven organizational skills and ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks within a fast‑paced work environment. Ability to build positive working relationships with professionals within the industry and internal clients. Strong communication and negotiation skills. Solid research skills and a commitment to continually learn about new products. Attention to detail and highly analytical. Strong proficiency using Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel). Knowledge of SAP planning system would be an asset. Reason for vacancy: Replacement. Compensation The expected hourly wage for this opportunity is $22.00‑$24.00. Individual pay is determined based on several factors, including work location, education, experience, unique skills and job conditions. Other considerations may include certifications, specialized training, and the complexity or scope of the role.
