Job Purpose The Medical Science Liaison (MSL), reporting to the Senior Director, Medical and Regulatory Affairs, is a key scientific ambassador for the organization, responsible for engaging in high‑quality, compliant scientific exchange with healthcare professionals (HCPs), researchers, and key opinion leaders (KOLs). The MSL provides expert knowledge, gathers medical insights, supports evidence generation initiatives, and executes the field medical strategy developed in collaboration with the Medical Advisor and Medical Affairs leadership. This role is field‑based and requires significant travel within the assigned territory. Key Responsibilities Scientific Engagement & External Relationship Management Build and maintain strong, long‑term relationships with KOLs, HCPs, clinical investigators, and scientific societies within the assigned region. Conduct fair‑balanced, evidence‑based scientific discussions to support disease education, therapeutic awareness, and appropriate use of company products. Communicate new clinical data, evolving scientific trends, and relevant real‑world evidence to external stakeholders. Serve as a primary medical resource for external experts while ensuring all interactions comply with Health Canada, IMC Code of Ethical Practices, and internal policies. Execution of Field Medical Strategy Execute the field medical strategic plan defined collaboratively by the Medical Advisor and Medical Affairs leadership. Align field activities with national medical priorities, key scientific messages, and targeted engagement plans. Provide regular feedback to the Medical Advisor regarding emerging scientific insights, competitive intelligence, and unmet medical needs identified in the field. Ensure consistency and quality in scientific messaging and stakeholder engagement across the territory. Insights Gathering & Cross‑Functional Support Systematically gather, analyse, and report medical insights to internal stakeholders to inform strategy, evidence generation, and business decision‑making. Collaborate cross‑functionally with Market Access, Clinical Operations, and Sales & Marketing partners. Participate in medical‑scientific support for advisory boards, congresses, symposia, and medical education activities as appropriate. Evidence Generation & Clinical Research Support Support local clinical research activities, including investigator‑initiated studies (IIS), site identification, feasibility assessments, and ongoing study support. Communicate new scientific data, study updates, and evidence gaps to the Medical Advisor and internal teams. Provide non‑promotional support to investigators and research staff, ensuring alignment with compliance guidelines. Medical Information & Education Provide accurate, unbiased responses to unsolicited medical information inquiries and escalation of complex requests to Global Medical Information or the Medical Advisor as needed. Deliver scientific presentations, disease education, and product training to healthcare professionals and internal teams when appropriate. Maintain advanced understanding of therapeutic landscapes, product data, and relevant clinical guidelines. Compliance & Governance Ensure adherence to all Canadian regulatory and industry requirements, including Health Canada, PAAB, IMC Code, and company policies. Document all field interactions and activities in the approved system within required timelines. Other Demonstrate the Pharmacosmos Values and Way of Working, as well as comply with company policies, procedures, and codes of conduct, all applicable Canadian laws and industry regulations governing pharmaceutical operations, including but not limited to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Good Clinical Practices (GCP), health and safety requirements, ethical standards, data privacy legislation, and any relevant Health Canada guidelines. Maintain the highest standards of integrity, documentation accuracy, and regulatory compliance in all activities. Qualifications Education BS or BA Degree required. Advanced scientific or clinical degree strongly preferred: PharmD, PhD, MD, MSc (health sciences), or equivalent. Experience 2+ years of experience as an MSL or in a related scientific/clinical role. Strong understanding of the Canadian healthcare environment. Experience working in our priority therapeutic areas (Cardiology, Nephrology, Patient Blood Management, Gastroenterology, Obstetrics & Gynecology, and Haematology & Oncology) preferred. Skills / Competencies Strong scientific acumen with the ability to interpret and communicate clinical data. Excellent presentation, interpersonal, and relationship‑building skills. Ability to work independently, manage territory priorities, and travel extensively. Strong collaboration skills and ability to work closely with a Medical Advisor and cross‑functional colleagues. High level of integrity, professionalism, and commitment to compliance. Other Requirements Travel required – approximately 30–40% of the time, occasionally including international travel. Mandatory to have a valid driver’s license. Languages: English required.
