Location Amazon Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Description The Supply Chain Optimization Technologies (SCOT) organization has an immediate need for a creative Business Intelligence Engineer (BIE) with a passion for building systems that have measurable impact. The right candidate will be innovative, technically versatile, and will work with one of the largest and most complex warehouses in the world to gather insights across Amazon. As a BIE, you will be an expert in the architecture of enterprise data warehouse solutions using multiple platforms, excel in design, creation, management, and business use of extremely large datasets, and have excellent business and communication skills to work with business analysts and data engineers to understand how best to design reporting and analytics data systems. Key Responsibilities Apply mining, quantitative analysis, and statistical models to understand how customers interact with Amazon and identify ways to improve the customer experience. Build scalable solutions and self‑serve platforms that provide insights to inform business decisions. Optimize performance of business‑critical queries and resolve ETL job‑related issues. Gather and understand data requirements, working with the team to achieve high‑quality data ingestion and build systems that process, transform, and store data in relational and non‑relational stores. Dive deeply into technical details (key dependencies, design choices, operability) with engineering teams and drive constructive technical discussions. Extract and combine data from heterogeneous data sources. Build and evaluate end‑to‑end designs for strengths and weaknesses (quality, scalability, latency, security, performance, data integrity). Create interactive visual dashboards with Tableau and QuickSight. Write clear documentation, architecture documents, and create an engineering roadmap. Explore and learn the latest AWS technologies to provide new capabilities and increase efficiency. Basic Qualifications 3+ years of analyzing and interpreting data with Redshift, Oracle, NoSQL, etc. Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines. Experience with data visualization using Tableau, QuickSight, or similar tools. Experience writing complex SQL queries. Experience in statistical analysis packages such as R, SAS, and MATLAB. Experience using SQL to pull data from a database or data warehouse and scripting experience (Python) to process data for modeling. Preferred Qualifications Experience with AWS solutions such as EC2, DynamoDB, S3, and Redshift. Experience in data mining, ETL, and using databases in a business environment with large‑scale, complex datasets. Benefits Medical, Dental, and Vision Coverage. Maternity and Parental Leave Options. Salary is based on a number of factors and may vary depending on job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience.
