Details Position: Engineer / Scientist Instrumentation and Control Employment Type: Permanent Employment Level: Intermediate / Senior Location: 910 Borck Road, Pickering Department: Design and Engineering Services Reports to: Section Manager, Site Engineering (Electrical, Instrumentation & Control), OPG Site Services Hours per week: 37.5 Responsibilities Provide input and direction to the development of conceptual/detailed equipment designs as they progress through a structured design process. Provide technical oversight and mentoring of more junior members of the Engineering team. Provide a high level of expertise in one or more specific areas related to electrical/I&C engineering, e.g., control instrumentation assessment/design/specification of equipment and components, electrical power generation and distribution. Strong knowledge of control system design, analysis and equipment including control computers, PID controllers, Digital Control System (DCS), Programmable Logic Controller (PLC), advanced control theory etc. Interface with construction/procurement partners and utility stakeholders, throughout the lifecycle of the design project to provide practical and effective solutions as per requirements. Provide field support to multi-disciplinary plant design modifications, including provision of field engineering. Provide technical guidance/direction on projects and act as design team lead where appropriate. Understand and assess client problems and determine appropriate means of solution. Interface effectively with other staff on multi-disciplinary projects. Stay current with developments within their field of expertise. Travel to client sites in the Durham region is regular, with occasional travel within the GTA. Other duties as required. Qualifications A Bachelor’s or Graduate degree in Electrical/I&C Engineering (or equivalent). 5+ years of relevant experience. A Professional Engineer of Ontario (PEO), or eligible for PEO status. Experience with projects related to heavy industry, nuclear refurbishment, new build design or SMR design experience. In-depth knowledge and experience of codes and standards (e.g., N299 and CSA N286), as applied to nuclear and conventional plants. Experience in control system theory, analysis and design. Experience in project management and coordinating multi-disciplinary teams. Knowledge and experience working with nuclear power plant systems & processes (Bruce Power, OPG, NB Power or other) is an asset (Engineering Change Control). Strong time management and communication skills, and the ability to work with station customers. Understanding of nuclear power plant design and operation; ability to lead technical projects to successful conclusion. Ability to contribute to proposals and contract negotiations. Excellent written and verbal communication; commitment to quality and problem-solving. Ability to lead complex and multi-discipline projects; innovative and collaborative. Ability to organize and prioritize and coordinate multiple activities; work well under pressure as a team member. OPG and Bruce Power Security Clearance is an asset.
