Our RED DEER BRANCH has an exciting opportunity for a HEAVY DUTY TRUCK/TRAILER MECHANIC What You Will Do The ideal candidate will be a Journeyman Heavy Duty Truck/Trailer Mechanic or apprentice that will primarily perform mechanical repairs and maintenance on trailers and some minor truck work. You will work with your team members to deliver a high‑quality customer experience that exceeds customer expectations through the following tasks: Remove and replace brakes, brake drums, hubs, seals, and bearings Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems, electric tarps and chutes, lighting systems, and associated parts Repair or replace chassis components including springs, spring hangers, equalizers, axles, subframes and their associated parts, air bags and air system components Repair or replace bumpers, bumper braces, mud flap brackets, dolly legs and dolly leg assemblies Perform CVIP inspections Repair and replace hydraulic pumps, safety valves and any other necessary mechanical components Perform incidental welding operations on steel and/or aluminium trailers Diagnose defects in light/heavy duty trucks and perform required mechanical services Perform repairs & preventative maintenance services on heavy/medium trucks and trailers Ensure documentation is complete and accurate Other duties as assigned What We Require The ideal candidate is a journeyman truck and transport mechanic. Level 2 apprentices or higher are encouraged to apply Able to perform CVIP on trucks and trailers preferred or willing to obtain licenses to perform Class 1 driver’s licence is highly desired but not required Demonstrated understanding of highway truck and automotive wiring Previous welding and fabrication experience is preferred but not required Previous experience installing plows, sanders or dump boxes is preferred but not required Must be able to meet the physical requirements: lift up to 75 lbs, work while kneeling/squatting and crouching, work at varying heights and enclosed areas Must possess their own tools to complete tasks Demonstrated proficiency in computer systems and standard office software Excellent customer service skills – dedicated to exceeding the expectations of internal and external customers Strong communication skills – confident in delivering clear and detailed information to customers and team members Team‑oriented, cooperative, adaptable, disciplined, and solution‑focused Professionalism, integrity, and committed to safety and excellence What We Offer Competitive Wages – PLUS Yearly bonus Great Benefits – Health, Dental, Vision, and much, much more RRSP Matching Health Spending Account – $500 per year Paid sick days and Short‑Term Disability Benefits Discount on gym membership Retirement Perks And an overall great place to be Fort Garry Industries welcomes and encourages applications from people with disabilities.
