The Calgary Wildlife Rehabilitation Society is a registered charity and the only veterinary-based wildlife hospital located within The City of Calgary. Established in 1993, the organization provides professional veterinary care to injured and orphaned wildlife, receiving thousands of injured and orphaned wild animals annually. Calgary Wildlife also offers valuable outreach and education services to the community to promote positive human-wildlife interactions.

Role Description

This is a volunteer Board of Directors role at Calgary Wildlife Rehabilitation Society. The role is a hybrid position based in Calgary, AB, with some in-person board meetings. Board members are responsible for setting the strategic direction of the organization, overseeing financial management, establishing policies, and actively participating in board meetings and committees.

Those with fundraising and CPA designations (preferably in the nonprofit sector) are preferred.

Positions are 1 and 2 year terms.

Qualifications
  • Financial management and governance experience
  • Leadership and strategic planning skills
  • Experience in nonprofit or wildlife organizations
  • Strong communication and team collaboration skills
  • Ability to commit to attending board meetings and fulfilling board responsibilities outside of monthly meetings
  • Previous board experience is an asset
  • A passion for wildlife
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Genuine interest in helping the organization grow
