Co-op MetallurgistAlamos Gold Inc. Young-Davidson is recruiting a Co-op Metallurgist to join our Metallurgy Team. Young-Davidson is a low-cost, long-life underground gold mine located near Matachewan, Ontario, between Timmins, Kirkland Lake, North Bay and Sudbury. The operation has a history of growth and a focus on safety and accountability. Role OverviewReporting to the Young-Davidson Metallurgy Superintendent, the Co-op Metallurgist will be responsible for supporting the efficient operation of an 8,000 tonnes per day mill and paste plant.Primary ResponsibilitiesDevelop a detailed understanding of the process flow sheets and operation of Young-Davidson milling operations.Mentor Mill Operators in the optimal operation of the flotation area.Assist in minimizing the mill operations cost base by strategically reducing media and reagent consumption; maintain discipline with accurate reporting of consumption rates.Assist in optimizing the paste plant operation to ensure the plant operates at an optimal level.Support accuracy and reliability of plant instruments for process and metallurgical accounting.Complete daily, weekly and monthly metallurgical accounting duties as required.Actively participate in processing plant commissioning tasks, delivering robust product for the operating team and achieving expected performance gains.Identify and rapidly implement improvement opportunities to increase free cash flow and reduce costs.Identify hazards in the field and plant and contribute to their resolution.Attend required daily operational, metallurgical and safety meetings.Qualifications And ExperienceWorking toward a Bachelor's Degree in Metallurgy, Mineral Processing or Chemical Engineering.No prior experience required; a 12-month Co-op Placement is sought.Computer literacy in Word and Excel.Knowledge of grinding, flotation, CIL, carbon elution and refining operations is an asset.Strong commitment to continuous improvement and to safety and production targets.Strong interpersonal, communication and analytical skills.Strong organization and time management skills; high attention to detail in problem solving and troubleshooting.Proven ability to meet safety and production targets.Tenacious and rigorous approach to completing tasks.Schedule: 4 days on, 3 days off with 10-hour shifts, or Monday – Friday, 8-hour shifts.Alamos Gold offers competitive salaries and benefits packages with opportunities for personal and professional advancement.Qualified candidates are invited to visit our website and apply online under the careers section: www.alamosgold.com.We are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity.
