We’re a technology company that leads with our humanity—driving our business priorities alongside meaningful social, community, and societal impact.**The Opportunity:**4 month work term: January – April 2026**How You Will Contribute:****We are looking for an enthusiastic and innovative student to join the hardware development team working on Ciena’s Switching products.**The position will be tailored to the successful applicant and will involve working with senior designers to implement and validate leading edge circuit packs.* Support hardware test and debug of new and existing circuit boards* Board programming, prototype inventory, etc.* Assist in performing thorough design verification to validate functionality, performance, operating margins, and robustness.* Signal integrity measurements, thermal stress, component qualification, etc.* Contribute to documentation such as Design Specification and Test Plans* The candidate will get exposure to the detailed design of high-speed digital and analog circuits* working in Cadence CAD tools (Concept/Allegro)* Learn how fiber optic transport equipment and associated test equipment function.**The Must Haves:*** Working towards completion of a Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering* Good communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills**Assets:*** Familiarity with lab test equipment (oscilloscopes, analyzers and test sets)* Understanding of high speed signaling, transmission lines, digital and analog design* Experience designing and debugging hardware* Experience with PCB schematic capture and layout tools**Pay Range:**The hourly pay range for this position is $25.00 - $34.00Pay ranges at Ciena are designed to accommodate variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, and locations, reflecting our diverse products, industries, and lines of business.
