SENIOR ACCOUNTING & GRANTS ANALYST Reports To: Assistant Controller Department: Finance Business Unit Location: Collingwood, ON Job Type: Full-Time Permanent Salary Range: $85,000 - $110,000 CAD base salary Work Schedule: On‑site full‑time or potential for Hybrid work after 3 months of employment SUMMARY: This is a newly created position. The Senior Accounting & Grants Analyst will take ownership of government funding claims, project‑level accounting, and financial compliance across a growing portfolio of programs. This role is ideal for an experienced accountant who enjoys working at the intersection of finance, engineering, and operations. The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring funding recoverability, audit readiness, and accurate cost allocation while supporting the evolution of our internal financial processes. Responsibilities Government Funding & Claims Prepare and submit funding claims for Federal and provincial programs (e.g., NRC IRAP, OSC, ACOA, FedDey, and Invest NS). Interpret contribution agreements and ensure compliance with eligibility requirements. Maintain audit trails, backup documentation, and claim narratives. Act as a primary point of contact with program officers and funding administrators. Track cumulative funding, caps, holdbacks, and reimbursement timelines. Project & Cost Accounting Support month‑end close activities including reconciliations and accruals. Assist with maintaining accurate general ledger records. Contribute to continuous improvement of accounting processes and controls. Support audits and internal financial reviews as required. Qualifications CPA designation (or near completion) strongly preferred. 5+ years of progressive accounting experience. Direct experience with government grants, contribution agreements, or project accounting is a strong asset. Strong Excel skills and comfort working with detailed financial data. High attention to detail with sound judgment and accountability. Ability to work cross‑functionally with technical and non‑financial teams.
