This is an outstanding opportunity for a Hydrologist, Technical Consulting Director looking for a leadership role in our Water practice. You will design and lead the execution of water studies for major mining projects throughout Canada. We work throughout all parts of the mining life-cycle: your work will help our clients deliver their initial and expansion-phase environmental assessments, resolve challenges in permitting applications, help refine operational decisions and guide major decisions during the closure planning. You can work from our offices in downtown Vancouver, Calgary or Toronto, choose to work remotely, or combine in-person and remote work into a hybrid model that best meets your needs. This is a senior leadership role where you will help shape our strategy and share in the accountability for how we grow our business in Canada.

We want to do great things; we need your help

Your big-picture understanding of our business, and ability to build strong client relationships based on trust and mutual benefit will be critical.

Your responsibilities:

  • Collaborate effectively in multi-disciplinary teams with other ERM subject matter experts to integrate our different types of work and communicate our collective findings to a wide range of audiences.

Who you are:

  • P.Eng. or P.Geo with MSc/PhD in civil or environmental engineering or related field.
  • 8+ years (15+ years preferred) of consulting experience in water resource management, impact assessment and permitting in the Mining Sector. Specific expertise in hydrometeorology, water balance and/or geochemical modeling, hydraulic and hydrologic modelling and modeling of environmental water quality.
  • Solid grasp of the key regulatory drivers within the mining and energy sector, as well as a high degree of technical competence and broad knowledge of impact assessment best practices.
  • Well-developed team building and influencing skills; unquestionable integrity; and the experience, confidence, and stature to effectively address client and business needs and challenges.
  • Recognized technical expertise by an established reputation in the marketplace, including positive reputation with key regulators relevant to environmental approvals.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain long-term relationships with clients.
  • Strong English writing and presentation skills.
