We're currently hiring for our GI Endoscopy unit — join a dynamic, specialized team where your skills make a real impact St. Paul’s Hospital’s GI Clinic performs over 9,000 endoscopic procedures annually and is one of the few centres in Western Canada offering advanced training in the detection and treatment of gastrointestinal lesions. As a Staff RN, you'll be at the forefront of patient care, working collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team to ensure patients/residents receive comprehensive support. Please note that the schedule for this position is Tuesday to Friday. Weekends, Mondays, and statutory holidays are days off. Responsibilities Assess patients' physical, social, spiritual, and psychological needs. Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans. Incorporate teaching into care plans to educate patients and families. Make referrals to resources as needed. Support fellow healthcare professionals. Operate within the framework of Providence Health Care's mission, vision, and values. Education Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives. Advanced preparation in GI Endoscopy that includes completion of recognized post‑basic education in gastroenterology/GI endoscopy nursing and a certificate of completion from the Association of Perioperative Registered Nurses (AORN) in gastroenterology, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Preference given to those with recent related GI endoscopy experience. Skills and Abilities Strong clinical and diagnostic reasoning to complete assessments and deliver safe, effective nursing care. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Certified in CPR appropriate to service area. Effective time/resource management and ability to collaborate across disciplines. Strong decision‑making, analytical, and problem‑solving abilities. Skilled in organizing and prioritizing workload. Able to interpret and integrate data from various sources. Effective interpersonal skills and ability to provide clinical direction. Experienced in patient education and identifying learning needs. Able to lead patient/family group sessions and health teaching. Applies research‑based evidence to guide clinical decisions. Skilled in conflict resolution and team collaboration. Promotes professional development and supports policy implementation. Physically capable of performing job duties and operating related equipment. The new St. Paul’s Hospital is expected to open in 2027. Competitive pay $41.42 to $55.91 CAD per hour, depending on experience. Provide hands‑on nursing interventions (including crisis and life‑threatening care), delegate tasks to support staff, and guide the multidisciplinary team in delivering safe, effective treatments. Track patient progress, evaluate outcomes against goals, adjust care plans as needed, and communicate changes or concerns promptly to the team and family. Identify and meet learning needs of patients, families and staff through one‑on‑one and group teaching; mentor new nurses and students and model best‑practice guidelines. Maintain accurate, timely documentation in line with professional standards and PHC policies; ensure critical updates are shared with patients, families and colleagues. Coordinate discharge plans by connecting patients and families with community resources, follow‑up services and support agencies. Help develop and evaluate policies, participate in research and quality‑improvement activities, uphold infection‑control and safety procedures, and advocate for patient dignity, respect and autonomy.
