Detailed Overview Under the general supervision of the Coordinator, Pharmacy Services or designate, you will assist with medication dispensing by measuring, non‑sterile compounding, packaging, and distributing medications. You will maintain stock levels and perform clerical duties as assigned. Responsibilities Receives, sorts, counts, measures and fills both patient‑specific and non‑patient‑specific medication containers; assists in distribution to patient care units and maintains appropriate records. Compounds non‑sterile pharmaceutical products according to established protocols. Repackages medications into unit‑of‑use format; maintains repackaging and compounding records. Maintains appropriate quantities of wardstock medications and validates accuracy of selections; maintains records of medication selection accuracy and quality assurance reviews. Maintains pharmacy department inventory and wardstock quantities; distributes and maintains relevant inventory, transfer and wardstock delivery records. Identifies outdated drugs to be returned or destroyed by reviewing stock for lot expiry dates. Maintains department work areas by ensuring tidiness and order; stocks pharmaceuticals, labels, containers, and glassware according to established procedures. Performs related clerical duties such as answering telephone, filing, and maintaining medication and prescription records. Performs other related duties as assigned. Qualifications Education, Training and Experience Grade 12 and graduation from a recognized Pharmacy Assistant course or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Skills And Abilities Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Ability to deal with others effectively. Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position. Ability to type. Ability to organize work. Ability to operate related equipment.
