Volunteers are placed in the community, supporting a variety of programs within Public Health, Primary Care and Corporate. Volunteer Opportunity Details Volunteer Opportunity ID: 6159 Description of Duties To provide support to staff and participants of the Healthy Start Community Support Program. The program offers families an opportunity to learn about nutrition, child development and general health and wellness. **Volunteer opportunity open until filled Skills Required Ability and comfortable with approaching people in a friendly, supportive manner Respectful of strengths and challenges of program participants Ability to understand, give direction and express oneself in English in a clear, concise manner Physical requirements may include carrying, lifting and transporting: large hot pots and dishes, supplies, chairs & tables. Clear Child Abuse Registry Check and Criminal Records Check with vulnerable sector Skills Gained / Related Careers Learn new skills, explore careers, and make a personal contribution to the improvement of health care while providing a service to others. Age: 18-30, 31-54, 55+ Time Commitment: Daytime Length of Commitment: To provide consistency for group participants and staff, a minimum commitment of 3 months is desired, or longer.
