Our Motive is to develop innovative action games set in iconic worlds where every player feels like the hero. Let's say that again—iconic worlds where every player feels like the hero.

Our passion has taken us from imagining dogfighter pilots in Star Wars: Squadrons to re-creating Isaac Clarke onboard the Ishimura in Dead Space. Currently, we're working on two exciting projects, an original Iron Man action-adventure game and what's coming next for Battlefield.

We believe in sharing our passion with our community and each other, fostering an inclusive culture, and nurturing a growth mindset. Although our approach may seem simple, it leads us to create the best work of our careers, bringing unique and immersive experiences to our players.

Motive is looking for aTechnical Animatorto join its Iron Man team and help implement runtime animation systems, character animation features, and workflows on Unreal Engine 5.

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with gameplay designers, technical leads, and animators to understand their process and needs.
  • Implement or expand on gameplay animation features like locomotion, flight, combat, hit reactions, and finisher moves.
  • Troubleshoot tools and workflow related technical issues with the animation systems.

Qualifications:

  • Strong teamwork skills while also retaining the ability to take ownership and work independently.
  • Passion for making games look and play great.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills. Must be able to quickly identify issues and resolve them.
  • Familiarity with advanced game engines like Unreal or Unity.
  • Experience integrating animation content into a game engine.
  • Experience troubleshooting and debugging character animation systems.
  • Familiarity with animation principles and the nature of animating for games.

Supplemental Skills:

  • Experience creating or maintaining animation workflows and tools within DCC applications is an asset.
  • Experience writing scripts/tools in Python is an asset.
