The catchment area services by Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital is between the Port au Port Peninsula east to Gallants and south to the Jeffrey's–St. Fintan's area serving a population of approximately 24,000. Position Details Position: Casual Security OfficersSite: Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital & surrounding area.Overtime: Overtime after 48 hoursHours: 15‑20 hours per weekPayrate: $19.00/hourPosting Date: November 14, 2025External Closing Date: December 19, 2025Schedule Example: As needed Key Responsibilities Patrol Hospital Grounds: Conduct regular rounds of hospital premises, including parking areas, hallways, patient rooms, entrances, and exits, to ensure the safety and security of the site. Monitor Surveillance Systems: Operate security cameras and alarm systems, ensuring any suspicious activity is reported immediately to the appropriate authorities. Access Control: Monitor and control entry points to the hospital, ensuring that only authorized individuals are allowed access to restricted areas. Respond to Emergencies: Act quickly in emergency situations, such as medical emergencies, fire alarms, or security threats. Assist hospital staff as needed during crises and evacuations. Provide Customer Service: Greet and assist visitors, patients, and hospital staff. Provide directions and ensure that guests adhere to hospital policies and procedures. Conflict Resolution: De‑escalate tense situations, resolve conflicts, and ensure that all interactions are handled calmly and professionally. Report Writing: Document daily activities, incidents, or accidents accurately. Complete reports on incidents, breaches, and security concerns. Collaboration with Hospital Staff: Work closely with hospital staff and local law enforcement to provide a coordinated security effort and ensure the safety of all parties involved. Enforce Hospital Policies: Ensure that hospital policies, including visitor and patient protocols, are followed. Address any violations in a manner that upholds hospital safety standards. Prerequisites Clear Criminal Record Check & Vulnerable Sector Check. Valid First Aid & CPR – Level C (from a CSA‑approved vendor). Valid Class 5 Driver License & willingness to take shifts at sites within a reasonable driving distance. English (oral and written) fluency is a must. Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field preferred. Must be able to provide certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB). Applicants lacking these certifications can opt into Paladin's UoF/MOAB training program prior to onboarding to ensure they meet the requirements.
