This position is responsible for safe maintenance and troubleshooting of all mechanical and electrical operating equipment. To ensure all equipment operates safely and all plant GMP standards are met. Responsibilities Provides mechanical support to all departments within the facility Prevent premature breakdown of the equipment used in production and to operate the facility through continual preventative maintenance Ensure a safe work environment through effective maintenance of equipment Correct unsafe working conditions Trouble shoot any mechanical breakdown in the production process to ensure minimal loss in manufacturing of our products Use SAP system for work capture, parts, sign out parts look up, confirmation time Assist in the installation of any new equipment in the facility Work together with all other departments to ensure a productive team environment and the continuous improvement of the plant processes Report any concerns and/or problems to supervisor through daily written and verbal reporting Understands the mechanics of our facilities processing and packaging equipment and is able to maintain it Ensure equipment operating, designed and installed to required GMP standards Proper housekeeping. Clean up after work is completed Provide shift report to include parts used downtime and root cause analyses Take part as an active member of continuous improvement teams Ensure that all employees are aware of their responsibilities specific to food safety, legality and quality Adhere to all applicable job procedures as outlined in SOP manual Adhere to GMP’s and Health and safety rules as outlined in employee handbook Keep work area clean and clear of hazards Report any unsafe conditions, incidents or injuries to Supervisor immediately Use all prescribed personal protective equipment Adhere to food safety practices and ensure they are being followed All tools to be cleaned and maintained in good repair. Report any broken, damaged, or missing tools to your supervisor. Do not discard any damaged or broken tools Follow all GMPs including maintaining personal hygiene, handwashing/sanitizing hands, clean up spills (ie: ingredients, water, debris and wood) Report any foreign material findings to your supervisor As part of food security, report any unusual people or behaviours to your supervisor Perform all other duties as assigned Skills, Experience & Qualifications Good mechanical aptitude and dexterity - detail oriented Service oriented --- high need to please Performance oriented - wants it fixed right High sense of urgency - wants it fixed now High sense of ownership Effective communicator - must discuss potential problems effectively Good organizational skills Has to have good analytical skills --- find a solution quickly Tenacious --- does not give up Education, Technical Qualifications, Experience and Competencies Proficiency Level Required Must hold a valid license, or proof of license from any province or country If holds over 10 years’ experience in the trade, it will be up to the discretion of the company to make exceptions Preferred Certificate of Qualifications, Ontario Industrial Mechanic Millwright We thank each applicant for taking the time and effort to submit your resume, however, only candidates to be interviewed will be contacted.
