This position is currently posted internally to CUPE employees for 5 working days until 4:30 p.m. March 8th, 2024, as per the CUPE Local 5829 Collective Agreement. Applications are invited for a full time Bus Mechanic. Reporting directly to the Transportation Director, you will be responsible for supervising and assisting the transportation team in providing a safe, efficient and effective fleet of school buses and division vehicles. You will also assist with recordkeeping, routing and ensuring compliance for bus safety audits. Preference will be given to a Journeyman Mechanic, however considerations may be made for a second or third year apprentice or RAP/work experience student. Experience working within a school bus industry would be an asset. This is a full-time, probationary position to commence March 18th, 2024. You will work 8 hours per day, 5 days per week, 12 months of the year (September to August). This position may be located at the Hanna Shop or the Consort Shop depending on the residence of the successful applicant. You must hold a valid Alberta driver’s license to accommodate travel throughout the division. A fleet vehicle may be available, however, you will be expected to maintain a reliable vehicle for travel. Competition will remain open until a suitable candidate is found.
