PSYCHOLOGIST School Psychologists support students, school personnel and parents in enhancing academic, adaptive and social skills for students. They will assist School Based Teams in the identification, assessment, planning, implementation, reporting and evaluation process for students with special educational needs. As a member of the district Student Support Services staff the role also includes participation in Student Support Services district planning, the mentoring and training of Special Education Teachers and coordinating of district services with other professionals. Responsibilities Provide collaborative consultation with teachers, parents, students and community agencies regarding students' strengths and needs Work in collaboration with school-based teams assisting with pre-referral interventions Provide psycho-educational assessments for students referred by the school-based team Provide on-going collaborative planning to design and implement instructional strategies and behaviour management interventions Provide in-service and ongoing training to district and school based staff on informal and formal testing Liaise with outside agencies (Mental Health, Ministry of Children & Families) to plan for both school and transition to adulthood. Liaise with outside agencies for assessment and evaluation of student needs. Qualifications Registration with the BC College of Psychologists with special training in school psychology; or A Master's degree in school/educational psychology or a related field with a focus on school psychology and qualifications that meet the standard for membership in the British Columbia Association of School Psychologists; Experience in the education system with knowledge of instruction and assessment Please forward your application to Trisha Wilson, Manager of HR: twilson@sd70.bc.ca
