Position Overview

Integrity Group of Companies specializes in the construction of highly efficient post-frame buildings across Western Canada as well as the supply of building products to homebuilders and customers in the Calgary and area market.

An integral part of Integrity's Post Structures Department, the crew hand role requires a strong understanding of safety, effective communication skills, the ability to multi-task and work with a team, well-developed problem solving, and a general understanding of trades and construction. Operation of various tools and equipment will be required.

Roles and Responsibilities

Read and interpret blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine specifications and calculate requirements
Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes, using measuring tools;
Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materials
Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring and erect walls and roof systems; Fit and install windows, doors, stairs, mouldings, and hardware
Schedule and co-ordinate work on sites;
Survey building locations and levels; and Instruct apprentices

Education/Experience Requirements

Minimum Experience:

1 year to 5 years of carpentry

Skills/Qualifications:

General health and safety knowledge required to be on building sites
General understanding of building construction
General skills and understanding of most common hand tools
Satisfactory verbal and written communication skills
Attention to detail and accuracy is required
Demonstrates professionalism, flexibility and 'can do' attitude
Self-starter with the ability to work cooperatively and be willing to assist others
Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills

Technology & Equipment

Forklift or other equipment operating certificates an asset

Travel

Travel throughout Western Canadian provinces is required and related to job schedule, comfort with this is a requirement of the job.
