Job Overview Physicians typically work 2-3 days in clinic plus 18-24 hours of ER call coverage per week. Physicians have the option to focus their practice more towards clinic-based work or acute care/ER as needed. We have individual practices but collaborate often in the care of our patients. Physicians work across all community settings to help deliver care where it is needed, including managing patients admitted to hospital, presenting through the ER, or residing in residential care. Additionally, the position requires hospital privileges at LMH for inpatient care and participation in the Doctor of the Day program. Emergency department coverage and Long Term Care services are also available. Responsibilities Clinic work 2-3 days per week 18-24 hours ER call coverage per week Collaborate across community settings (inpatient, ER, residential care) Provide individual patient practices Maintain hospital privileges at LMH and participate in Doctor of the Day program Hours Monday to Friday, 9am - 4pm. Remuneration All physicians are on LFP payment model for clinic work. Remuneration for ED shifts on contract: $300–$340 per hour. LFP payment model for LTC and inpatient rounding. Overhead Calculated based on days in clinic, approximately $450 per day. Benefits & Incentives Recruitment Incentive: up to $10,000 (pro‑rated based on FTE) Relocation: up to $15,000 (based on location) Flat fee: $12,366.72 Fee Premium: 7.98% CME: $2,200/annum for 3–4 years and $4,400/annum after 4 years in the community. The above amounts are current as of August 2024 and may be subject to change. Community Information Salt Spring is a busy community with arts, culture, sports and recreation opportunities. It has a semi‑tropical microclimate with rare snowfall. The vibrant arts, agriculture, and natural environment make it a vacation destination. The community offers public elementary and secondary schools, sports facilities (swimming pool, tennis, squash, pickleball, soccer, baseball diamonds), the ArtSpring theatre, and the Saturday Market.
