Position Summary:
The Field Safety Specialist provides Safety & Health expertise to Grainger Customers and Sellers to develop strong partnership relationships in order to grow revenues within a defined region. The role partners with District Sales Managers in their defined regions to ensure they are aligned to the right safety and health opportunities and are training their aligned region Sellers on Safety & Health offers, resources and insights.
Job Responsibilities (You Will):
To conduct needs analysis to determine and understand the customer’s safety & health issues and align to Grainger Safety & Health solution that includes products or services
- Leads customer discussion with relevant insight and challenges the customer to think differently about their business
- Explores expressed customer needs and identifies problems to solve—probes to fully understand, clarify and expand
- Utilize research to identify compelling reason to change
- Efficiently determines a customer’s readiness, focusing time on those who are willing to take advantage of his products or services
To provide customers with solutions that reduce costs or increase efficiency with innovative product or service applications
- Develops solution options using ongoing dialogue with the customer and all available technology
- Links features and benefits to business outcomes
- Works with internal and external Grainger contacts to ensure ability to support solution
- Performs cost savings analysis for customer solution as well as Value Based Conversations through Value Receipts and Documented Value Statements
- Uses checking questions to gain feedback from customer on customized solution recommendation
To implements solutions
- Engages internal and external Grainger resources to develop plan and timeline to implement solution
- Drives implementation plan with customer
- Checks with customer to ensure business needs are being met
- Leverages post-implementation success to gain more information from the customer about future needs
To support Grainger Sellers in aligned region
- Provide strategy, coaching and direction on safety & health opportunities that are within their region
- Help to align internal and external resources to support the safety & health opportunities
- Educate sellers on safety offers and key messaging
Assists in identifying accounts in geography that will either be assigned as support for key opportunities
To maintain expertise through appropriate preferred safety credentials focused on safety & health regulations and industry topics
- Educates customers on changing market trends and technology and impact to their business
- Investigates nonstandard solutions that will profitably satisfy a customer’s needs
- Expands customer understanding and use of Grainger’s standard product and service capabilities
Education/Experience (You Have):
- Strong business & safety acumen with the ability to understand financial reporting, to analyze safety business needs, and documenting safety & health value to customers.
- Minimum of 5-7 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment, or equivalent environment involving safety hazard analysis and assessments and responsible for overseeing safety.
- Bilingual (English and French)
- Ability to project manage and drive for results
- Experience conducting workplace inspections to prevent injuries / accident prevention and reduction, engineering controls, ergonomics and hazmat control to meet compliance standards
- Business analysis experience and the ability to identify and implement safety improvements are required
- Understanding and awareness of safety regulations, safety applications, and the ability to distinguish market offers and capabilities
- Demonstrated understanding of safety violations, safety drivers, safety programs, building a safety culture
- Demonstrated knowledge, understanding and experience with newest and latest in safety regulations
- Ability to learn and understand the Grainger Selling Process so they can effectively team and solution sell with Grainger sellers
- Ability to communicate across all levels of the organization
- Ability to build strong networks and to work cross-functionally
- Skilled in the application and use of computer and communications technology, with ability to analyze data through available reports
- Ability to proactively partner with various leaders in their geography that ensures the right level of follow-up and follow-thru.
- Demonstrates the ability to motivate and achieve results through others
- A post-secondary education is preferred
- Possession of a valid license and a suitable vehicle
This role may require you to attend our customers’ sites and to adhere to safety requirements in accordance with applicable health and safety legislation, as it relates to wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) on certain customer sites. This may include: a hard hat; steel-toed safety boots, clean shaven or trimmed moustache/beard in order to wear a close-fitted N95 mask or other required PPE. - Réfléchir sur les besoins communiqués du client et identifier les problèmes à aborder - chercher à comprendre, clarifier et élaborer.
- Utiliser la recherche pour déterminer le motif impérieux de changement.
- Déterminer efficacement le niveau de préparation d'un client, se concentrant sur ceux qui sont prêts à tirer parti des produits ou services.
Fournir aux clients les solutions qui réduisent les coûts ou augmentent l'efficacité par l'entremise des produits ou services innovateurs.

Soutenir les vendeurs de Grainger au sein de la région attribuée.

Maintenir les connaissances par l'entremise des qualifications de sécurité préférées axées sur les normes de santé et sécurité et les secteurs d'industrie.
- Éduquer les clients sur l'évolution des tendances et technologies du marché et les effets sur leurs affaires.
- Enquêter les solutions non standard qui répondront rentablement aux besoins du client.
- Élargir la compréhension et l'utilisation du client des produits et services standards de Grainger.
Vous avez:
- Sens aigu des affaires et de la sécurité avec une capacité de comprendre les rapports financiers, d'analyser les besoins commerciaux en matière de sécurité et de communiquer la valeur de la santé et sécurité aux clients.
- Expérience pertinente de 5 à 7 ans au sein d'un environnement de fabrication ou expérience équivalente en analyse de dangers de sécurité ou en gestion de sécurité.
- Bilingue (Anglais et Francais)
- Capacité de gérer les projets et inciter les résultats.
- Expérimenté dans l'inspection des milieux de travail aux fins de réduction des blessures / accidents, de contrôles techniques, d'ergonomie et de contrôle des matières dangereuses pour correspondre aux normes de conformité.
- Expérience en analyse des affaires et capacité d'identifier et mettre en oeuvre les améliorations de sécurité au besoin.
- Compréhension et sensibilisation aux règles et applications de sécurité et capacité de distinguer les offres et capacités du marché.
- Compréhension avérée des infractions de sécurité, incitateurs de sécurité, programmes de sécurité et cultures de sécurité.
- Connaissances avérées des dernières nouveautés en matière de sécurité.
- Capacité d'apprendre et de comprendre le processus de vente de Grainger pour collaborer et vendre efficacement en cohérence avec les vendeurs Grainger.
- Capacité à communiquer de manière efficace avec des partenaires à tous les niveaux de l’organisation.
- Capacité de développer de fortes relations et de collaborer avec les groupes interfonctionnels.
- Habile en informatique, en technologie de communication et en analyse des données des rapports.
- Capacité de collaborer de façon proactive avec les divers dirigeants régionaux pour assurer le niveau approprié de suivi et conclusion.
- Fait preuve de la capacité de motiver et atteindre les résultats par l'entremise des autres.
- Certificats de Superviseur formé en sécurité (STS) et Professionnel de vente qualifié en sécurité (QSSP) ou autres certificats de sécurité préférés.
- Études postsecondaires de préférence.
- Permis de conduire valide et possession d’un véhicule fiable.
- Il est requis de visiter les sites des clients du marché au moins une fois par mois ou plus fréquemment selon les besoins.
Ce poste peut exiger que vous respectiez les exigences de sécurité conformément à la législation applicable en matière de santé et de sécurité, en ce qui concerne le port d'équipements de protection individuelle (EPI) sur certains sites de clients. Cela peut inclure : un casque de protection, des bottes de sécurité à embout d'acier, une moustache/barbe rasée ou taillée afin de pouvoir porter un masque N95 ajusté ou tout autre EPI requis.
