As an integral member of the Nursing Professional Practice and Education Team, and working closely with the broader Perinatal Team, the Nurse Clinician is responsible for the development, implementation, and evaluation of education programs for registered nurses across the MBU portfolio. This includes supporting education for Postpartum, PINAC, Antenatal care areas, and the WIH Resource Team. The Nurse Clinician coordinates orientation and educational programming for nursing staff and learners, and through these initiatives promotes high-quality care, strengthens teamwork, and advances staff development. Using adult learning principles and a transformational leadership approach, the Nurse Clinician evaluates educational needs, develops targeted learning plans, and delivers education through a range of modalities. The role also supports nursing education initiatives in alignment with departmental and Mount Sinai Hospital goals and objectives. In this role you will: Develop and maintain standards of nursing practice and patient care by creating an environment that supports professional growth, accountability, and excellence Collaborate on goal setting for the Women’s & Infants’ Health Centre of Excellence and its inpatient and ambulatory areas, ensuring alignment with high-quality, safe patient care Provide leadership that fosters a positive, collaborative work environment Maintain clinical competence; articulate and model evidence-based practice with clear links to research outcomes Promote innovative nursing education using diverse modalities including simulation, online learning, classroom teaching, and clinical instruction Evaluate clinical practice and competencies, identify learning needs, and support the development of individualized learning plans Apply best practices, knowledge translation, and program planning principles to design, implement, and evaluate nursing education initiatives Participate in quality improvement activities, including the development and evaluation of standards, policies, and procedures Support evaluation strategies to monitor relevant nurse-sensitive indicators and practice changes Encourage continuous learning and professional development within the team Contribute to departmental education initiatives through teaching and facilitation Participate in relevant unit, program, and nursing department committees Contribute to the advancement of the nursing profession through involvement in professional associations and related organizations Assist with staff performance appraisals, goal setting, and provide timely feedback to nursing staff Perform other duties consistent with the job classification as required Job Requirements Mandatory Current certificate of registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) Graduate of a CNO-approved bachelor’s degree in nursing program, or equivalent combined education and experience 5 years of recent experience with postpartum and high risk obstetrics Recent experience as a Nurse Educator or enrollment in NRP Certification Active Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) provider status; applicants not currently enrolled in the NRP program may be considered – as a condition of hire the NRP course must be successfully completed within one (1) year of hire Eligible for cross-appointment to an academic institution Preferred Masters degree in nursing Tertiary academic teaching hospital experience NRPInstructor Certification in Perinatal Nursing an asset Membership of RNAO and other professional nursing related organizations Skills and Knowledge Expertise in adult education principles Demonstrated ability to lead change Strong leadership and interpersonal skills and effective written and verbal communication skills Ability to work effectively and independently under stressful/challenging conditions Ability to use information technology and support staff in its application Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Demonstrated satisfactory work performance and attendance history If this sounds like you and you feel ready to build your nursing career within Women's and Infants' Health, apply now and let us know why you’d be a great addition to our team.
