Automation and Controls Engineer

Electrical Controls Engineer . With a diverse and highly-skilled work force, our client has been operating for over 25 years, successfully executing projects across Canada and the US.

What you’ll be doing in the role:

Lead and participate in the successful execution of project design, layout, and engineering. Develop and/or approve of engineering design documents, reports, and drawings. Define, monitor, and adjust project scope of work. Support the team during procurement, construction, and commissioning activities. Prepare technical documentation, including specifications, reports, and user manuals. Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations in all electrical designs and implementations. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and team members. Regularly attend customer sites for project reviews, commissioning, etc. Facilitating customer conversations regularly.

What you bring to the role:

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering P. Eng designation is an asset but not mandatory. Advanced computer skills including a high level of AutoCAD proficiency. Strong understanding of the Ontario Electrical Code. 5 or more years’ post-graduate experience in an Electrical Engineering role, specifically in Controls and Automation. At least 3 years’ experience in an industrial environment. Demonstrated experience with electrical controls design, preparing quotes and estimates. Excellent problem-solving skills and a proven ability to work in a collaborative team environment. Strong oral and written English communication skills and ability to present technical information effectively to team members, clients and vendors. Field engineering and on-site service experience. Strong experience in working with Omron and Rockwell PLC’s. Experience with Mitsubishi and Siemens an asset. Ability to travel across Canada and to the United States as required. A valid Passport is required. Valid Ontario driver’s license and clean abstract is required.
