Locations: 00/day
Dates: December 23rd, 27th, 30th & January 2nd & 3rd

Due to Camping Association Standards, counsellors must be 16 years of age or older.

  1. Complimentary YMCA Calgary membership including a linked membership for dependent children;
  2. Scholarship opportunities;
  3. Paid recertification and training.
    1. Aged 16 or older
    2. Interest in working with children
    3. Strong communication and teamwork skills
    4. Previous Day Camp or related experience preferred
    5. Current Standard First Aid with CPR-C certificated within the last 12 months from an approved AB OHS provider. Asset if certification is issued by one of the following five Canadian organizations: Canadian Red Cross, Heart and Stroke Foundation, Lifesaving Society, St John's Ambulance and/or Canadian Ski Patrol.
    6. Evidence of a clear Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Search within 12 months
    7. Three professional references
    8. Experience in any of the following would be an additional asset: p>
      1. Provide a fun, safe, and healthy environment for children registered in YMCA Calgary Day Camps
      2. Provide proactive supervision and facilitate daily activities
      3. Work alongside and collaborate with other Day Camp staff including Day Camp Coordinator, Supervisor, and Specialty Camp Instructors.
      4. Plan and implement all aspects of the daily schedule within the provided curriculum, including arts and crafts, active group activities and sports including physical literacy activities, traditional day camp games and other engaging activities, while encouraging camper participation
      5. Enter the pool daily and engage in pool activities with campers
      6. Supervise weekly field trips off-site
      7. Demonstrate and role model positive behavior when working with other staff, campers and members
      8. Follow YMCA Calgary Policies and Procedures
      9. Provide first aid when required
      10. Greet parents/guardians and campers on arrival and departure from camp. Providing extra assistance and daily updates as needed
      11. Attend mandatory staff training prior to the start of camp
