Criminological issues often engender competing arguments including private, public and political debate. Controversies will be fully explored providing for an analysis of competing perspectives and their implications for society. Topics may include: criminalization of prostitution, drugs, gambling, corporate and environmental crime; powers of border security and police; the death penalty, gun control, and racial profiling. Qualifications – Required Master’s Degree Qualifications – Other MA in Criminology, Criminal Justice, or a cognate discipline (e.g., sociology/psychology) that is clearly and directly connected to the course content, and with a focus on crime or deviance; PhD or ABD preferred. Work experience in the field is an asset, as is prior teaching experience. (MEd / EdD will not be considered to meet the minimum educational requirement).
