Join us, and together, let's shape a brighter future for B.C.The assignment will provide opportunities for engagement with engineers, managers and others in different departments in the organization, and provide an understanding of some of the workings within the operating and engineering groups at FortisBC.The work will consist of various related assignments to the design and operation of the gas system, such as:Review of standard design practices for natural gas facilities and pipelines including updating materials specifications, guidelines and drawingsPerform multiple site visits to better understand the Transmission and Distribution gas systemEngage various internal and external stakeholders and team members in the review of technical information on new utility products and practicesPerform engineering assessments, identify opportunities and deficiencies, and complete written reports/proposals for existing and proposed infrastructureRecommend process improvements and ensure compliance to company and industry codes and standardsWhat it takes:Mechanical or Chemical Engineering Student - Third or Fourth year preferredEnrolled in a Co-op ProgramExperience or knowledge with CAD applications and competence in Excel, Word and PowerPointExperience with report and memo writing in a corporate environmentExperience with interpreting mechanical and P&ID drawings of piping systemsCompetent public speakerValid BC driver’s license (or other provincial equivalent)Additional InformationThis is a full-time temporary student co-op opportunity with an 8 month term starting in January 2026.To learn more about the recruitment process with FortisBC, please visit the You’re Applying.
